Getting ready for the biggest climb of my life!

Sunday 15th March, 2009

Hello Special friends!

Welcome to my first post… how exciting!

It’s great to be sharing a more up-to-date relationship with you all. I will do my best to make this a weekly commitment as the countdown is on to the biggest climb of my life… Denali!

I encourage you all to share your thoughts and comments on all topics of interest, be it climbing & adventure pursuits, health, sport & fitness or everyday issues that affect our life. I will do my best to reply to all who take the time to contribute to my blog site.

So, what’s news with me?

Lots!

Yes, it’s all happening…

In less than 7 weeks I will be on my way to Alaska to climb the “coldest” mountain in the world! Denali is as magnificent as it is dangerous. It is in the heart of Alaska, rising more than 6000m (20,000 feet) from sea level.

Anyone want to join me? It is going to be an amazing expedition. My senior guide has just been confirmed, Mark Postle along with my 5 male team mates from all over the world.

The exact date of the expedition is May 5th – May 25th. I will be part of the Alaska Mountaineering School (AMS) West Buttress Denali expedition. The great thing about this is that you will all be able to follow my climb via the AMS blog which can be found here.

The weeks leading up to a significant climb such as this involves a tremendous amount of logistical planning, equipment and clothing purchasing and most importantly hardcore training!

I am training intensely at the moment (all my friends and work colleagues at Harper’s can attest to this), slogging it out day after day in preparation for climbing one of the most dangerous and challenging mountains in the world! I will go in to more specific details about my training next post which I am sure will amuse you all!

Other things that I have been up to include…

A recent motivational talk to over 70 staff members from Fenix Fitness Clubs. It was a great morning with them all and I certainly pumped them up for their first sales launch of the month!

I also spent a day in Sydney (with my beautiful friend Annie) for a photo shoot for The Herald-Sun “Body & Soul” magazine. I will appear as a model in two consecutive weeks in April demonstrating Swiss ball techniques.

My clothing label is on the way, I have approved the first design and love it! Just waiting for samples of all sizes in the range before production takes place. Hopefully they will be available for sale before I go to Alaska!

So, that’s all the news from me… the very first post to launch myself into the “blogosphere!”

I am only new to this, a work in progress so please be patient and kind!

I welcome you all to be part of my journey… I would love to be part of yours!

So please comment, share your thoughts and feelings.

We are all connected, we are all special and unique so let’s enjoy and celebrate life together!

Keep smiling & take care

Love

Cherie xx
