This post is dedicated to all our Mum’s as we celebrate Mother’s Day this Sunday. Melbourne and many other states host the annual Mother’s DayClassic, a wonderful fundraising event for breast cancer research. Join over 100,000 Australians and walk or run the morning in with Mum, your family and friends.
The 4km and 8km walk and run will take place from 6.45am to 12 noon around Alexandra Gardens and the Tan Track in Melbourne. To register and for more information visit:

There is nothing more important than health and happiness, here are thirty suggestions l believe will make a positive difference to your Mum’s life. Click below to read the rest of this post:
Tell her you love her and appreciate all that she does for you.
Encourage her to take up a hobby or sport she enjoys.
Ensure she is getting adequate calcium for her bones and other essential vitamins and minerals such as iron, folate, zinc, magnesium & vitamin B’s.
Take her on a weekly ‘date with Mum’ to see a movie, visit a market, gallery or simply a drive away from town.
Buy her a ‘pamper voucher’ to receive a relaxing massage, facial or pedicure.
Ensure she is getting regular medical checks for breast, cervical, and skin cancer prevention.
Surprise her with a spontaneous day out together.
Motivate and encourage her to set herself a challenging personal goal.
Ensure she takes a day off from home duties and switches off technology such as mobile/Iphones and computers.
Ensure she is nourishing herself with a balanced diet of carbohydrates, protein and good fats.
Never underestimate the power of a hug and words of ‘thank you Mum.’
Take her a bunch of favourite flowers and box of fresh fruit and vegetables each week.
Commit to a weekly ‘exercise date’ with her such as game of tennis, bike ride or walk.
Ask her if there is anything you can do for her?
Make her a healthy, nutritious dinner once a week.
Encourage her to engage in a form of relaxation such as yoga, pilates, meditation or tai-chi.
Make sure she spends time outdoors to receive her daily dose of vitamin D through sunshine.
Encourage her to eat fish a few times a week and other healthy fats that contain essential omega3 fatty acids such a seeds and nuts.
Ensure she does regular cardiovascular exercise and resistance training.
Take her on an adventurous and challenging activity…trekking in the Himalayas with me perhaps? 😉
Check that she is drinking enough water each day and getting adequate sleep.
Make sure you visit her at least once a week and/or call her regularly.
Discourage her from following unbalanced ‘fad celebrity diets.’
Play your favourite music together and sing and dance like teenagers.
Enjoy and indulge in weekend get-away together once a year.
Spend a few hours as a team doing some charity or volunteer work.
Ask her more questions about herself and how she is feeling?
Look through the family photo albums together.
Do an activity together that takes you both out of your comfort zone.
Laugh with her, devote time for her, cherish and love her….every moment spent with your Mother is a precious gift.
